(Konya, Turkey – 14 August 2022) – The Guyana 3×3 Basketball Men’s National Team began their campaign for 3×3 basketball gold at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey today with an 18-17 win over Mauritania. Nikkoloi Smith lead team Guyana to its first win with 8 points, while team captain Stanton Rose and Harold Adams added 5 points each. In a heated game two against Uganda, Guyana lost 15-18 to a much bigger Ugandan team. Team captain Stanton Rose lead all scores with 8 points, while Harold Adams added 4 points, Nikkoloi Smith added 2 points, and Travis Belgrave contributed 1 point. Team Guyana will play its remaining Group B games on Tuesday, August 16 beginning at 17:45 (TRT / GMT+3) against Iran and 20:25 (TRT / GMT+3) against Maldives to close out group play.
