The honour makes Belgrave the first basketball player in the country’s history to lead the delegation at the world’s second-largest multi-sport event, marking a pivotal moment for a sport that is rapidly gaining traction on local soil.

The significance of the appointment is amplified by the timing: Guyana is set to make its long-awaited debut in 3×3 basketball at these Games, a milestone that has already injected new energy into the domestic game.
