Their group stage will wrap up with a decisive game against Venezuela, as they aim to secure a spot in the medal round.

Running from April 12 to April 25, the South American Youth Games are hosting over 2000 young athletes from 15 countries competing in various sports, including 3×3 basketball.

Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) President Michael Singh expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA). He noted that Guyana’s participation signalled a positive trend since the nation’s last appearance was in the 2017 edition in Chile, where athletes like Nigel Bowen and Isaiah Hintzen competed.

Singh emphasised that the Federation’s commitment to developing 3×3 basketball was beginning to pay off. He underlined that Guyana is now regularly participating in regional and continental multi-sport events, including the South American Youth Games and the Commonwealth Games.

Highlighting the importance of such experiences for young athletes, Singh remarked that competing against high-calibre teams is essential for their growth. He believes these experiences will enhance the players’ competitive skills and foster the long-term development of 3×3 basketball in Guyana.

Guyana is making strides in the realm of 3×3 basketball as its youth team lands in Panama City in preparation for the 2026 South American Youth Games.
