{"id":5317,"date":"2025-07-23T17:51:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T21:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/?p=5317"},"modified":"2025-07-23T17:56:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T21:56:12","slug":"joy-adams-ramlall-sisters-headline-guyana-wnt-for-georgetown-womens-classic-against-suriname","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/2025\/07\/23\/joy-adams-ramlall-sisters-headline-guyana-wnt-for-georgetown-womens-classic-against-suriname\/","title":{"rendered":"Joy Adams &#038; Ramlall sisters headline Guyana WNT for Georgetown Women\u2019s Classic against Suriname"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professional basketball star Joy Adams and the highly touted Ramlall sisters, Amisha, Ashna, and Arshia, have been named in Coach Willon Cameron\u2019s final roster for the highly anticipated Georgetown Women\u2019s Basketball Classic against Suriname, scheduled for August 10\u201311 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.<br \/>\nThe international matchup, hosted by the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), is being seen as a major step in revitalizing women\u2019s basketball in Guyana and across the region.<\/p>\n<p>According to GBF President Michael Singh, the event marks the tip-off of Guyana\u2019s commitment to returning to the regional court in a big way.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis series is extremely important for the growth of women\u2019s basketball in Guyana,\u201d Singh said. \u201cWe recently met with President Irfaan Ali, who has pledged full support as we look to bounce the women\u2019s programme back into action.\u201d<br \/>\nMaking her long-awaited debut on home court, Adams, who hails from Amelia\u2019s Ward, Linden, has played professionally in Europe, and is no stranger to international basketball.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She previously suited up for Guyana at the inaugural FIBA 3\u00d73 AmeriCup in Miami, where she delivered an impressive performance. However, this will mark her first time representing Guyana in the traditional 5-on-5 format.<br \/>\nEqually exciting for fans will be the debut of the Ramlall sisters, Amisha, Ashna, and Arshia, all standout players at Rosemount High School in Minnesota, USA. Their inclusion brings international flair and youthful energy to the roster.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to finally see Joy Adams suit up in Guyana\u2026it\u2019s long overdue,\u201d Singh added. \u201cAnd having the Ramlall sisters join the squad is something special. They are the future of Guyanese basketball.\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to Singh, \u201cThis series will be a great test to see how well the girls gel as a unit. Warren Wilson, head coach of the University of Guyana Trojans, will serve as the team\u2019s manager.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m eager to see how our senior women stack up against Suriname.
