{"id":5239,"date":"2025-06-05T09:57:51","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T13:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/?p=5239"},"modified":"2025-06-05T10:39:42","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T14:39:42","slug":"minister-ramson-backs-eagles-flight-to-dominica-for-kreyol-basketball-northern-conference-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/2025\/06\/05\/minister-ramson-backs-eagles-flight-to-dominica-for-kreyol-basketball-northern-conference-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Ramson backs Eagles\u2019 flight to Dominica for Kreyol Basketball Northern Conference Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Guyana\u2019s Eagles and Ravens are ready to soar on the Nature Island court<\/h2>\n<p>The Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport has officially backed the Eagles Basketball Club as they gear up for international competition in Dominica, where they will join the Ravens Basketball Club to represent Guyana at the 2025 Kreyol Basketball Championship, running from June 6 to 10.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s edition of the championship, set to unfold at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex in St. Paul\u2019s, promises an exciting display of Caribbean basketball, bringing together top-tier talent from Guyana, Dominica and Guadeloupe.<br \/>\nThe field includes Dominica\u2019s D-Treads Blazers and 767-SC Dominators, along with Guadeloupe\u2019s USR Basket and GCB, in addition to the Guyanese representatives.<\/p>\n<p>At a symbolic presentation held ahead of the teams\u2019 departure, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., praised the legacy and leadership of both clubs in Guyana\u2019s basketball history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry is proud to support this journey,\u201d Minister Ramson stated. \u201cWe felt compelled to go beyond what was initially asked, because this is more than just basketball; this is about nation-building through sport. Eagles and Ravens have long been ambassadors of Guyanese basketball, and we trust they\u2019ll represent our country well both on and off the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eagles Head Coach, Adrian Hooper, expressed gratitude on behalf of the club, describing the Ministry\u2019s swift action as a major morale booster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re extremely thankful to Minister Ramson and the Ministry for their prompt and meaningful support,\u201d Hooper stated. \u201cThis assistance also energizes the team and shows us that our efforts are valued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Kreyol Basketball Championship tips off Friday with the Eagles taking the floor in the tournament\u2019s opening matchup against Dominica\u2019s 767-SC Dominators at 7:00 pm.
