{"id":5130,"date":"2025-03-21T07:33:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/?p=5130"},"modified":"2025-03-21T07:33:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:33:22","slug":"maloney-pacers-set-sights-on-fiba-3x3-world-tour-qualifiers-in-guyana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guyanabasketball.com\/gy\/2025\/03\/21\/maloney-pacers-set-sights-on-fiba-3x3-world-tour-qualifiers-in-guyana\/","title":{"rendered":"Maloney Pacers set sights on FIBA 3\u00d73 World Tour qualifiers in Guyana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Maloney Pacers, one of the most experienced squads in the Caribbean, will represent Trinidad and Tobago at the One Guyana 3\u00d73 tournament, where they will be among 20 teams from 16 countries competing for a chance to qualify for the FIBA 3\u00d73 World Tour in Edmonton, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Trinidad and Tobago\u2019s top-ranked 3\u00d73 player, Tyrese Fields, will join forces with history-makers Moriba De Freitas, Chike Augustine, and Ahkeel Boyd at the tournament, set for April 5\u20136 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Maloney Pacers will face fierce competition in Guyana from teams representing Ecuador, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, the USA, the Cayman Islands, Grenada, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and Suriname.<\/p>\n<p>The One Guyana 3\u00d73 Quest marks the first time an English-speaking Caribbean nation is hosting a 3\u00d73 Quest event with World Tour implications.\u00a0With some of the world\u2019s best 3\u00d73 talent heading to Guyana, the Trinidadian ballers are no strangers to this level of competition.<\/p>\n<p>De Freitas, Augustine, and Boyd made history at the 2023 Pan American Games, finishing third place. This was the first podium finish by an English-speaking Caribbean team since 3\u00d73 was added to the Pan Am Games in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>While Fields wasn\u2019t part of that historic run in Santiago, Chile, his 3\u00d73 resume speaks for itself. He joined Augustine, Boyd, and De Freitas at the Central American and Caribbean Games, showcasing their chemistry on the court.<\/p>\n<p>The quartet has also represented Trinidad and Tobago at the FIBA AmeriCup 3\u00d73 in 2022, 2023, and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>heir fourth-place finish at the 2022 AmeriCup in Miami set another milestone, making them the first English-speaking Caribbean team to crack the top four at the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Ranked as Trinidad and Tobago\u2019s top four 3\u00d73 players, they are key members of Maloney Pacers, a club led by legendary coach Christopher Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Jackson praised the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) for organizing a much-needed event in the region.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s eager to see his team match up against familiar foes from Central America, having battled many of them in past tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Confident in his squad\u2019s ability, Jackson believes Maloney Pacers have what it takes to book their ticket to their first-ever FIBA 3\u00d73 World Tour; an achievement that would be monumental for Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Maloney Pacers, one of the most experienced squads in the Caribbean, will represent Trinidad and Tobago at the One Guyana 3\u00d73 tournament, where they will be among 20 teams from 16 countries competing for a chance to qualify for the FIBA 3\u00d73 World Tour in Edmonton, Canada.
