The National Gymnasium comes alive on November 2 as the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) Elite 16 tournament tips off with a double-header.\u00a0At 19:15h, the action starts with New Amsterdam Warriors<\/strong> going head-to-head against Colts<\/strong>, setting the tone for a night of intense competition.\u00a0Following that, two Georgetown teams- Ravens<\/strong> and Nets<\/strong>– will take the court in a showdown that promises edge-of-your-seat excitement.\u00a0The clash of the Elite 16, the GBF said, serves as a perfect warm-up for the highly anticipated One Guyana Basketball League, which will bring together Guyana\u2019s basketball best under one banner.<\/p>\n

The GBF Elite 16 tournament is designed to showcase high-quality basketball across all GBF associations, GBF President Michael Singh stated ahead of the opening tip-off.\u00a0With players from Bartica, Linden, Georgetown, and Berbice in the mix, this tournament will sharpen competition and elevate the game for the upcoming season.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A champion will emerge from this battle of the elite, earning a GY$300,000 winner\u2019s purse. Second-place finishers will pick up GY$100,000, third-place take home GY$50,000, and the tournament MVP will be awarded GY$25,000 for his standout performance. The tournament schedule is stacked with must-see match-ups: on November 6, Eagles<\/strong> will face off against GDF<\/strong>, followed by Kobras taking on Block 22 Flames<\/strong>. November 9 brings another double-header, where Mambas<\/strong> will battle Kwakwani Untouchables<\/strong>\u00a0and Victory Valley Royals<\/strong> will go up against Bartica<\/strong>. The action continues on November 13, with Amelia\u2019s Ward Jets<\/strong> set to take on Pacesetters<\/strong>, followed by Retrieve Raiders<\/strong> clashing with UG Trojans<\/strong>. On November 16, the winner of Game One will face the winner of Game Three, while the victors from Games Two and Four will square off.<\/p>\n

Advancing further, the winner of Game Five will meet the Game Seven victor, while the winners from Games Six and Eight will battle on November 20.\u00a0The semi-finals tip-off on November 23, leading to the grand finale on November 30.<\/p>\n

Singh expressed confidence in the players\u2019 readiness, highlighting, \u201cThis tournament primes our senior players for ongoing competitive play through 2024 and into 2025.
