FIBA has published the Official Basketball Rules 2026 (valid as of 1 October 2026) and other related documents.
MIES (Switzerland) –The FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2026 (OBR2026) are now available for the entire basketball family. All the changes have been approved by the FIBA Central Board earlier this year. The new edition of the Official Basketball Rules becomes valid as of 1 October 2026.According to the established procedure, the FIBA’s Rules Advisory Group (RAG), comprised of basketball and refereeing experts, closely studied all the proposals for the rule changes before submitting them to the FIBA Technical Commission for a final review. The other key stakeholders are also involved in the analysis of the rule changes. The Official Basketball Rules comprise of two sections: a) Basketball Rules and b) Basketball Equipment, and are published in two separate documents. Summary of the Rules Changes
