How is FIBA 3x3 structured and managed?

There are three types of FIBA 3×3 endorsed events: pro circuit, national team, and grassroots. The pro circuit includes all Road to the World Tour events, such as Challengers and Quests, which lead to World Tour Masters. Selection for national team events such as the Olympics, 3×3 World Cups, and 3×3 AmeriCups are conducted by each national basketball federation. Grassroots events are typically organized locally and open to a variety of ages and skill levels. Learn more about the FIBA competition network.

How do I get involved as a player?

3×3 basketball is a sport that can be enjoyed by players of all levels in a competitive or skill-development setting. This fast-paced game encourages creative thinking and exposes players to all skills, positions and facets of the game.

How do I get involved as a coach?

Coaches, make your teams better and teach individual skill development to players by incorporating 3×3 into your practices. 3×3 games are an excellent way to teach fundamental skills to players of all ability levels.

By incorporating a 12-second shot clock, players are challenged to make quick decisions and work together to score. Players are exposed to all positions on the court while learning to pass, attack and move with and without the basketball. 3×3 games can take place in an informal setting or by following the official 3×3 rules of the game.

Add an extra level of competitiveness to your practices by creating your own official 3×3 events on the FIBA 3×3 event maker platform and having your players create FIBA 3×3 player profiles. Player profiles earn individual ranking points which can be tracked against each other. By the end of the season, see which players break into the top 50 for all 3×3 players in Guyana!

How do I get involved as a referee?

3×3 offers great opportunities to both aspiring and experienced referees. The diverse competition network brings many chances to develop the 3×3-game specific skills each season, supported by a systematic clinic and referee development program.

The 3×3 refereeing program is also designed to support the dual career path of officiating both 3×3 and basketball.

What is a 3x3 player profile and how do I get one?

Creating a 3×3 player profile allows players to accumulate and track their ranking points among other 3×3 competitors in Guyana.  Individual 3×3 ranking points feed into the overall country 3×3 participation points that Guyana needs to qualify for international competitions.  By creating your player profile, you play an integral role in helping Guyana qualify for the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, FIBA 3×3 World Cups and more!

Player profiles are a requirement for any participant in a FIBA-endorsed event, including a 3×3 qualifier and the national championship. Follow the steps below to create your profile and properly compete in officially endorsed FIBA 3×3 tournaments.

STEP 1: Go to the FIBA 3×3 website.

STEP 2: Enter in the required personal information and create a unique password login.

STEP 3: Once all fields are filled in and the terms and agreement are accepted, click the SIGN UP TO FIBA 3X3 button at the bottom of the page.

STEP 4: Following registrations, players will receive a verification email from FIBA 3×3 to the email address entered on the signup page.

STEP 5: Open the email and click on the link to confirm your player profile.  Your player profile registration is not complete until you open and confirm the link sent to your email address.

Once you’ve created and confirmed your player profile, you can begin to accumulate ranking points from the FIBA 3×3 endorsed tournaments in which you participate.

All 3×3 basketball inquiries should be emailed to 3×3@guyanabasketball.com.

How do I organize a 3x3 event?

Event Maker is a web application created by FIBA for 3×3 event operators to create and manage 3×3 events within FIBA’s competition network. The application connects players to teams and teams to events, which in turn allows players to earn FIBA ranking points. Managing your event on Event Maker is the first step to making your event officially endorsed by FIBA. The program is free and easy to use, so click here and start managing your 3×3 event with the FIBA Event Maker.

What are FIBA 3x3 rankings?

There are three official FIBA 3×3 rankings: individual ranking, team ranking and federation ranking. Individual players earn ranking points by competing in FIBA 3×3-endorsed events, but only the sum of each player’s best nine events within the past 12 months are considered when calculating rankings.

Team ranking on the 3×3 World Tour is calculated based on the sum of the top three highest-ranked players on a specific team. Even though a pro team can have six players on its roster, the team’s ranking will only reflect the sum of the three highest-ranked players.

Federation ranking is calculated based on the ranking points of each national federation for a specific category (U18, U23, open, men, women). Federation ranking is determined by the sum of the ranking points of the top 50 of each country’s players with a confirmed player profile, in a specific category.
