The 2022 National Budget as presented by Dr. Ashni Singh, Senior Minister with responsibilities for Finance under the Office of the President, has seen more than a 100% increase in funds being allocated for the development of sports in Guyana with $3.2B this year as opposed to the $1.5B in 2021.<\/p>
The GABF was categorized as one of the twelve core sports and has been working closely with Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr.\u00a0and the NSC\u2019s Director of Sports Steve Ninvalle.<\/p>
The GABF would also like to take this opportunity to thank the National Sports Commission for funding received in 2021 for the Senior Men\u2019s National team campaign at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifier in El Salvador and the Senior Men and Women\u2019s 3\u00d73 national teams\u2019 participation in the FIBA 3\u00d73 AmeriCup in Miami, USA.<\/p><\/blockquote>
The GABF has presented its 2022-2027 Strategic Development Plan to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and is excited about the future of sports and basketball in Guyana. Guyana is scheduled to compete in a number of international senior and youth qualifiers<\/strong> in this year including:<\/p>
- FIBA U15 and U17 Centrobasket Championships for Boys and Girls<\/li>
- FIBA Centrobasket Women\u2019s Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico<\/li><\/ul>
3\u00d73 Basketball tournaments <\/strong><\/p>
- 2022 Caribbean Games in Guadeloupe<\/li>
- South American Youth Games in Asunci\u00f3n, Paraguay<\/li>
- International School Sport Federation Games in Normandy, France<\/li>
- FIBA 3\u00d73 AmeriCup senior and U17 tournaments in Miami, USA and Buenos Aires, Argentina.<\/li><\/ul>
