Ravens and Amelia’s Ward Jets stormed their way to the semi-finals after defeating Plaisance Guardians and Half Mile Bulls respectively when the sixth annual Brusches’ Classic Basketball Championships continued Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Hardcourt, Linden.
Guyana ranked 110 in latest FIBA/Nike World Rankings
New International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Ranking for Men, presented by Nike, saw Guyana on the ranking board for the first time in the country’s rich basketball history. Guyana is now ranked 110 out of 213 national teams, after having never been ranked before and was considered to be one of the unranked countries within FIBA for the past 56 years.
Brusche’s Classic Basketball…Colts cruise past Sonics 71-56, Royals brush aside Raiders 96-56 to reach semifinals
The pre-tournament favourites from Georgetown and Linden eased through to the semifinals when the 6th Brusche’s Classic Invitational basketball tournament got started Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court. In the opening game Colts brushed aside Pepsi Sonics 71-52 and Victory Valley Royals cruised past Retrieve Raiders by a whopping 40 points, 96-56.

GUYANA makes the new FIBA World Ranking Men for the 1st time ever - Moving from un-ranked to ranked 110/145. FIBA does not rank countries after the 145 threshold, they are considered un-ranked. FIBA has a membership of 215 countries.Thanks to Nigel Hinds (GABF) and Patrick Haynes (FIBA/CBC) for working overtime to promote and develop basketball in Guyana.
Brusche Basketball Foundation names clubs for Biennial classic
With one week to go before the Biennial Brusche Basketball Classic bounces off in Linden, the eight teams have been named for the prestigious championship. Main power houses Georgetown and Linden are having teams in this year’s championship.
