A breath of fresh air swept over the basketball landscape in Georgetown yesterday when Adrian Hooper, the new Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) President, appointed the new Executive that will serve for the next two years.
A constitutional change only allowed Clubs to elect Hooper as President last Sunday. Following his election, Hooper had five days to name an Executive. Instead of going back to the old status quo with the same old faces dominating the sport, Hooper went for a fresh approach with a total transformational approach.
A computer technician by profession, Hooper, who is the Coach of Eagles Basketball Club went in an unconventional direction and appointed new faces to his Executive.
He said that he’s happy to present the group to the public following last weekend’s elections.
Jonathan DeGroot and Kester Gomes were identified as First and Second Vice Presidents in that order, while Nadine Luthers-Williams will serve as Secretary. Natasha Narine was named as his Treasurer with former national player, Seraiah Clarke Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
Rawle Toney is the Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Hooper indicated that the group will meet shortly where they will collectively work on immediately taking basketball to the next level in Georgetown.
