National U-17 Basketball team fit for Centro-Basket Championships – Mohan
With the Centro-Basket U-17 Championships mere days away, the Guyana National U-17 team has been training intensely for the last week as they aim to be the “fittest team at the Centro-Basket U-17 Championships”. The team is encamped at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) and is under the tutelage of Head Coach Lugard Mohan, Assistant coach Willon Cameron and overseas based Player Development Specialist Kenny Avent.

A tireless performance from Jonathan Mangra led Bounty Colts to victory over Pepsi Sonics in the first of two matches played on Thursday, night 8, of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association in collaboration with Banks DIH, 1st, 2nd and U-23 division leagues.

Powerade/Rainforest Water/Malta Supreme/GABA Tournaments…Eagles and Colts continue unbeaten run on night 7 in the U-23 division
Night 7 of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s, Banks DIH sponsored 1st, 2nd, and U-23 divisions, tournament, resumed on Wednesday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with two matches in the U-23 division. It was a good day for the favourites as both undefeated Eagles and Colts enjoyed relatively easy wins.

Guyana selects team for the Cenrobasket U17 Championship
Guyana will be participating in the Under 17 Central America & Caribbean Basketball Championships (CentroBasket), which is scheduled to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from July 26 to 30 2017. The selection of the Guyana U17 Basketball team has been finalized to play in the Championships. The trials concluded on July 8, 2017, with twelve players being selected from the squad by Head Coach - Lugard Mohan and the assistant coaches.

Defending Champions dethroned by Marians Academy

Marian Academy dethroned Mackenzie High school in the U-14 Final of the National Schools Basketball tournament which concluded on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Captain of Marian Academy, Jether Harris, lead his team to a 34-30 win with a game high 20 points, 13 rebounds and three steals to take the MVP of the U-14 division. It was inadvertently stated in yesterday’s report on the tournament that Mackenzie High had retained their title which was incorrect.
